How do I connect CrossBeam to Microsoft Copilot?

Quick answer: Go to Settings → AI Connectors, pick Microsoft Copilot, and copy the Server URL. In Copilot Studio, open your agent, go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol, paste the URL, choose OAuth 2.0 → Dynamic discovery, and sign in with your CrossBeam account.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, scroll to AI Connectors, and pick Microsoft Copilot under Setup.
  2. Click the copy button next to the Server URL.
  3. In Microsoft Copilot Studio, open your agent (or create one) and go to Tools.
  4. Click Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol.
  5. Name it CrossBeam, add a short description such as "CrossBeam plan check results and permit questions", and paste the URL as the Server URL.
  6. Under authentication, choose OAuth 2.0, set the type to Dynamic discovery, and click Create.
  7. Choose Create a new connection and sign in with your CrossBeam account. Then click Add to agent.
  8. To use the agent in Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot, publish it to the Microsoft 365 and Teams channel. Your IT admin may need to approve it.

Using GitHub Copilot in VS Code instead

  1. In VS Code, open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.
  2. Choose HTTP and paste the Server URL. Name it crossbeam.
  3. Open Copilot Chat in agent mode and sign in with your CrossBeam account when VS Code asks.

What you can do with it

  • Ask Copilot to list your projects and summarize your latest pre-check.
  • Pull findings, sheet notes, or a corrections letter from a project into a conversation.
  • Ask permit questions for the cities CrossBeam covers.

Limits

  • The connector reads your CrossBeam results. It can't start a new review or change findings.
  • Copilot Studio needs a Copilot Studio license, and your organization's data policies can block outside tools. Ask your IT team if the Model Context Protocol option is missing.
