How do I cancel a review or change its permit type after I start it?
Quick answer: While your review is still preparing your plans, the progress page shows Need to correct this submission before its review workspace opens? with two buttons: Cancel review and Change permit type. Change permit type restarts the review with the new type, reusing the plans already on file.

Open the project. It shows the progress screen.

Under the progress bar, find Need to correct this submission before its review workspace opens?

Pick one:
- Change permit type — choose the right type in the dialog and click Change and restart. CrossBeam cancels this attempt, updates the type, and starts again with the plans it has already read. Click Keep current type to back out.
- Cancel review — stops the review. The project shows as cancelled, and you're not charged for it.
When the buttons aren't there
- They appear only for the person who started the review, and only during the first stage, before the plan review itself begins. Once the review is under way, let it finish.
- When the review works out the permit type from the plans itself, only Cancel review shows.
- If the finished results are for the wrong permit type, start a new project with the right type.
- A cancelled review can be restarted with Try again — no charge. See Retry a pre-check.
