How do I run a pre-check from the dashboard?
Quick answer: From Projects, click + New Project, pick Pre-Check Your Plans, fill in city / permit type / address, drop your plan set, and click Run Pre-Check. Results are ready in 15–30 minutes.
Steps
- Go to Projects.
- Click + New Project (top right).
- The dialog opens with "What do you need? — Choose a workflow to get started" and two cards:
- Pre-Check Your Plans — "Catch issues before you submit. Get an AI compliance check for any California city."
- Corrections Response — "Got corrections back? Upload them and we'll help you respond."
- Click Pre-Check Your Plans.
- Fill in the form:
- City — dropdown of onboarded California cities. If yours isn't listed, see City not in dropdown.
- Address — type the project address.
- Permit Type — defaults to ADU; dropdown lists every permit type the selected city supports (EV charger, reroof, solar, SFR, multi-unit, etc.).
- Drag your construction documents into the Drag files, folders, or ZIPs here dropzone. Any file type, up to 2 GB each. PDFs are most common; folders and ZIPs work too.
- Click Run Pre-Check. You land on the project page with the price for this review.
- Pay through Stripe. The review starts automatically after payment. If your account already has enough credits, it starts without checkout.
- Wait 15–30 minutes. You can close the tab — you'll get an email when it's done if Pre-Check Receipts are on.
