My city isn't in the dropdown

Quick answer: If your California city isn't in the dropdown yet, pick Other and type the city name. The AI will still run on state code and best-effort local lookup, but results won't be as tight as for onboarded cities.

Why cities come and go

CrossBeam is rolling out California city by city. As of 2026-04, over 100 are onboarded and the rest of the state is getting done in batch through end of April. If your city isn't listed, it's coming — usually within days.

What works without full city support

  • State code review (California Building, Residential, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire, Energy).
  • Permit-type recognition (ADU, SFR, multi-unit, simple permits).
  • Pre-check and corrections analysis flows.

What's less reliable

  • City-specific setbacks, fees, fire zones, HOA overlays.
  • The city's specific permit forms (if they require specific handouts).
  • Ask AI for that city — it'll fall back to generic state-level answers.

Steps

  1. In the New Project form, open the City dropdown.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and pick Other.
  3. Type the city name and the county if known.
  4. Proceed with the rest of the form.

What to tell the team

If your city matters for your project and isn't listed, ping the team with the city name. We prioritize onboarding based on what builders ask for.
