How do I run a free pre-check?
Quick answer: Go to /start, sign in, pick a city and permit type, drop your PDF, and click Run Free Pre-Check. One free pre-check per account, no credit card required.
Steps
- Open /start.
- Sign in with Google, Microsoft, or email. (An account gets created automatically.)
- Pick the city from the dropdown. If your city isn't listed yet, pick Other and type it in.
- Pick the permit type — ADU, SFR, EV charger, solar, etc.
- Drag your construction-document PDF into the upload area. Up to 2 GB, single file.
- Click Run Free Pre-Check.
- You'll see a confirmation and a Watch Progress Live button. Click it to see the pre-check run.
What "free" means
- One free pre-check per email address. The trial is tracked against your account, not per project.
- Any permit type qualifies. Even a multi-unit or SFR run is free on the trial — you'd otherwise pay 20 credits for multi-unit.
- After the free one, you either run reviews from the dashboard using credits, or submit through a partner city (which is free for builders).
If you've already used your free review
You'll see a "Credits Required" message when you try to run it. Head to Credits to buy a pack, or use a partner city portal which is always free.
