How do I use and download my PreCheck brief and marked plans?
Quick answer: On completed results with Your brief, open each comment to see what to change and where it belongs on the drawing. Click Download your brief (PDF) to save the brief, submittal notes, and marked sheets in one file. Use the brief as your work list, then upload corrected sheets for a re-check.
Steps
-
Open your completed pre-check from Runs, or use the results link in your city's PreCheck email.
-
Start on Your brief. Read the opening, then click a comment's title to expand its steps. The sections group the work so you know where to start.

-
Open a drawing thumbnail for a close-up. Click Open on … in Findings for the full sheet viewer. Open Code references for your designer when you need the supporting citations.
-
Click Download your brief (PDF). If it says Preparing your PDF…, allow a minute or two the first time. If it reports an error, try again in a moment.
-
Work through the fixes with your design professional. Use each comment's checkbox as a personal work-list reminder.
-
Upload the corrected set for a re-check. City-sponsored runs use Re-check your revised plans at the top of the results; other runs use the version menu. See Re-check revised plans.
Checkboxes and verified fixes
A checkbox records your own progress in this browser for this version. It does not change the review result, confirm that the plans were revised, or earn a FastPass. The re-check reads the uploaded drawings and determines what was fixed. A later brief can show Still open, New this round, and Cleared since your last round.
Find the full review
Open Findings and choose Your brief for the brief comments or Full technical list for the underlying review findings. Brief pins use their section colors. Items under Held for the full technical list stay available in the full list, with a reason for being held out of the brief.
The Assistant on Findings can explain the review. Your brief replaces the older Action Items, Questions, Corrections Preview, and Site & Zoning tabs on these results. For property facts, use the job site's Site Facts tab.
Apply for the permit
Apply for your permit explains the next step and shows the city's application links when available. Downloading a brief or completing a re-check does not file a permit application. Submit through the city's normal process.
