How do I answer the AI's clarifying questions?

Quick answer: Open the Questions tab on the project page. Each question has a text box — type your answer and save. The AI uses your answers to sharpen the response package before you download it.

Why the AI asks questions

Some corrections can't be resolved from the plans alone. The AI needs input from you — for example:

  • "Is the existing structure being re-roofed or only partially repaired?"
  • "What is the actual finished floor elevation at the proposed ADU?"
  • "Does the applicant intend to pursue the pre-approved plan path?"

Answering these lets the AI produce a much more specific response letter instead of hedging.

Steps

  1. Open the project from Projects.
  2. Click the Questions tab. The count next to the tab name shows how many are open.
  3. For each question, type an answer in the text box. Be specific — numbers, yes/no, short sentences are all fine.
  4. Save. You don't have to answer every question to move on; unanswered ones just stay as "needs info" in the final package.

How your answers are used

  • They're injected into the response draft for each finding that depends on them.
  • They persist on the project — if you re-run the analysis, your answers carry over.
  • They're not sent to the city automatically. You still review and approve the final package before submitting.
