How do I analyze a corrections letter from the city?
Quick answer: From Projects, click + New Project, pick Corrections Response, upload the city's comment letter PDF, and CrossBeam parses each item, cites the code it references, and drafts a response for you.
Steps
- Go to Projects.
- Click + New Project.
- Pick the second card: Corrections Response — Got corrections back? Upload them and we'll help you respond.
- Fill in the project details (city, permit type, address).
- Upload the corrections letter PDF the city sent you.
- Wait for processing. It's faster than a full pre-check — usually a few minutes.
- Review the results. You'll see item-by-item breakdowns with code citations and suggested responses. See Read your pre-check results — it's the same viewer.
- Answer any clarifying questions the AI asks. See Answer AI questions.
- Download the response package. See Download the response package.
What you get
For every correction the city wrote, the analysis includes:
- What the city is asking for (parsed from the letter).
- The code section being cited (state code + city-specific if applicable).
- What you need to change on your plans.
- A suggested response — draft language you can refine and submit back to the city.
What it costs
Corrections analysis uses the same credit tier as a pre-check of the same permit type:
| Permit type | Credits |
|---|---|
| Simple permits | Free |
| ADU | 2 |
| SFR | 4 |
| Multi-unit / commercial | 20 |
