How do I generate my final corrections letter (Finalize & Issue)?
Quick answer: Once you've triaged your findings (and, if relevant, imported reviewer markups from Bluebeam), click the green Finalize & Issue button top-right. CrossBeam generates a corrections letter — both an HTML you can print to PDF and a downloadable DOCX — based on your verified / edited / flagged findings.
Steps
- Open your pre-check results from Projects.
- On the Findings tab, triage every finding. See Triage findings. The progress ring (
N/Totaltop-right) shows how far along you are. - (Optional) Round-trip through Bluebeam if you want a reviewer to mark up your plans first. See Export to Bluebeam.
- Click Finalize & Issue (green button, top-right).
- Wait a few seconds — the button shows "Generating…" with a spinner.
- When it's done, you'll see: "Corrections letter generated (v1) — {N} items" and two download buttons:
- Open HTML (Print to PDF) — opens the letter in a new tab, formatted for print.
- Download DocX — downloads
corrections-letter-v1.docx.
Versioning
Each click of Finalize & Issue bumps the version: v1, v2, v3, etc. Use this when you edit findings after an initial letter and want a clean re-generation. Previous versions remain accessible.
What's in the letter
- Project header (address, permit type, city).
- Scope note — the AI's read on the project (e.g., "home addition / remodel, not an ADU").
- One numbered item per triaged finding that goes into the letter (verified, flagged, and edited; dismissed items are excluded).
- For each item: the title, the issue, the code citation, and — if you edited — your text in place of the AI's.
When to Finalize
- Before submitting to the city — use the letter as your own pre-submission checklist.
- After the city returns corrections — start a Corrections Response project instead; see Analyze a corrections letter.
- After Bluebeam round-trip — if a reviewer marked up your plans, import their markups, then Finalize to produce a corrections letter that reflects both the AI and the reviewer's inputs.
